Who Am I?

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

I am a fan of a show on Public Broad-casting called “Finding Your Roots.” The main purpose is to help people find the people and stories of their family’s history.

Sometimes they find out the truth to family legends and secrets. Often times they discover a new sense of who they are and why they act as they do. Nothing has changed since they walked into the show except their perception of themselves. One person discovered that the person she thought was her sister was really her mother. How she thought about her whole life changed.

The same thing happens when someone comes to faith. We discover we

are not who the world says we are. We are children of God. Our history and our environment have not changed but our perception of ourselves does. We find we have a new purpose and a new direction. God created us to be unique persons with unique gifts that are needed by the people around us. We cannot think too little of ourselves or too much of ourselves because we owe who we are to God. We are children of God AND THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING.

To go thought:

Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39
