The Texas Floods of 2025

It is hard not to talk about the flooding that happened around the 4th of July. The stories are so heartbreaking.

Tragedies have been a part of life since Adam and Eve left the garden. Sometimes someone is at fault, but usually the forces of nature are clashing with human beings. We would like to have a reason, but it is mostly beyond us.

God didn’t take the lives of those who died in the flood any more than God took the life of Jesus. God brought redemption out of that death, and God will bring something redemptive out of these deaths as well. The Texas floods of 2025 will not have the last word, just as death did not have the last word in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Maybe we will value our family more. Maybe we will help our neighbor more. Maybe we will trust God more in this life and the life to come. Though we will never be completely safe while on this side, we are completely loved.

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your

creatures.
